Like Mother, Like Son

I took this picture at the end of a long day. Liam is feeding well and is growing every day. In fact, last Thursday he measured in at a stout 7 lbs. That's almost a full pound above his birth weight and nearly two pounds above his lowest weight! Every day we notice his growth in different parts. His cheeks are fatter, his head is bigger, he's got a double chin (like his dad), and he is filling out his pj's. At this rate, he'll be bigger than Barnes in no time...kidding.

The G diapers are in use!!! In our effort to be environmentally conscious and better stewards of the earth, we are experimenting with a new type of diaper. Initially, Ravin pushed for cloth diapers but I wasn't too keen on the idea of dirty diapers hanging around the house. After extensive research, Ravin found a happy medium...the G diaper. This is a hybrid between reusable and disposable diapers. There is an outer cloth "shell" that is made of cotton. A washable plastic liner snaps into the cloth shell and disposable filler is fitted into the liner. The beauty of this system is that the disposable filler is similar in material to toilet paper. The dirty filler is ripped and dumped into the toilet. A "swisher stick" is used to break up the filler in the water and then is flushed. The only waste products that will make its way to the landfill are the dirty wipes. Liam is just big enough to fit into these diapers and we've used them successfully for two days. We are very happy with the G diapers and highly recommend them to anyone that is thinking of expanding their family.
